Esperance Anglican Spring Wildflower Festival 12-16 September 2017

Just sharing early notice for the Esperance Anglican Spring Wildflower Festival 'Saltlakes - Their Web of Life'' that will be held on Tuesday 12th to Saturday 16th September 2017 from 9am – 4.30pm at the Esperance Anglican Parish Centre (Corner Windich & Andrew St).

Cost of Entry is a Gold Coin Donation.

There will be:...

The 2017 Men’s Shed Conference will be held on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September 2017 in Merredin.  

 

Please click here to see the Conference Poster.  This is an opportunity to find out more about how Men’s Sheds can make a valuable contribution to their community.  You are encouraged to attend and perhaps your Council may support members of the Men’s Sheds in your community to attend.


The conference will be held at the Leisure Centre.  It will commence with a light lunch at 12.00noon on Saturday, followed by a business session commencing at 1.00pm.  
A dinner will be held on Saturday night at the Cummins Theatre.  The maximum capacity is 200.  A business session will be conducted from 9.00am to 12.00 noon on Sunday, followed by a sausage sizzle at the Shed.  A sundowner will be held at the Merredin Bowling Club on Friday 1 September for those who are in town early, with participants buying their own drinks and meals.
 
The conference will be held during the wildflower season and follows the Dowerin Machinery Field Days on Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 August 2017. 
Why not take this opportunity to spend a few days looking around the district?  Sunday will be promoted as the biggest Father’s Day party in WA.

​Shire of Esperance - Waste Revolution Workshop - Wednesday 26 July 2017

The Shire of Esperance invite you to attend a Waste Management Community Workshop being held on the 26th July to determine how we can all work together to avoid, reduce, reuse and recycle waste in our community.

A Draft Community Waste Strategy is included here for your information and will be open for discussion at the workshop.

Additional topics for discussion will include community targets for Waste Reduction, priorities for Esperance and what we can do as individuals and as a community.

Please share this information with anyone who would like to be involved and has some great ideas about how we can have a Waste Revolution in Esperance.

Shalom House Information Session in Esperance Thursday 1 July 2017

Shalom House is a men's residential rehabilitation centre located in the heart of the Swan Valley in Perth Western Australia.  It focuses on bringing restoration to the lives of drug affected men and families.  The program currently caters for up to 85 men, including their partners and children.

Scherie Fowler has formed a committee of women in Esperance whose lives have been affected by drug use.  This committee has been successful in securing Shalom Founder, Peter Lyndon-James and two of his staff to host an information session which will be held in Esperance on Thursday 1 July 2017.  Please click here for more information.

Transafe WA will hold their 13th Road Transport Industry Safety Forum in Esperance on Friday 30 June, 2017.

This event will be invaluable for anyone involved with heavy vehicle transport in the region. And it’s FREE to attend.

If that’s not you but you know someone involved in road transport in the Esperance region, then please share this information with them.

CEO Sleepout for Homelessness Thursday 22 June 2017

On the 22nd of June, one of our Corporate Sponsors: Vladimir Guiris from G2IT will rise to the challenge of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise awareness and much needed funds for people experiencing homelessness.

Did you know that over 105 000 Aussies find themselves homeless each night. Vladimir did the CEO Sleepout in 2016 and has again decided to do something about homelessness so he has risen to the challenge of taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout 2017.

Food Sensations Workshops at Forage Cannery Kitchen Garden 1 & 29 June 2017

Mental Wellness for Grain Growers and their Community Information Session on Wednesday 28 June 2017.

We recognise that farm owners play a pivotal role in fostering the wellbeing of their workers through the behaviours they model, and their ability to observe and act when they notice that workers are struggling. They also play a key role in successfully integrating workers back into work after a period of sickness absence.

This free, practically focussed, interactive, face to face workshop will be delivered by an experienced clinician and include case studies and contextualised activities created in consultation with CBH Group.  Please see the flyer here.

The session is designed to suit the needs of farm businesses including farm managers and staff, local business owners, managers, supervisors, team leaders, community leaders, and those who are interested in taking the first step towards promoting mental wellness in their workplace.

Regional Development Australia Goldfields Women's Leadership Forum

The awesome RDA Goldfields Women’s Leadership Forum is happening in Kalgoorlie on Saturday the 27th of May. The inaugural event was held last year and in terms of information sharing, the standard of all the speakers and the high level of quality networking – the whole day was brilliant. This year the program yet again looks terrific with Jessica Rowe as the Keynote – wow!

CANCELLED - Cruise Ship 'Pacific Eden' in Esperance on Sunday 14 May 2017

We have been advised that the “Pacific Eden” has experienced some rough weather

on its journey to Perth and will now stay an extra night in Fremantle Port.

The “Pacific Eden” will be in Esperance on Sunday 14 May 2017, which is also Mother's Day.  We have been advised that the “Pacific Eden” will berth at the Port, at 7am and shuttle buses will transfer passengers out of the Port,
through town, to the Whale Tail car park.

The Tourism Esperance Marque will be setup at the Whale Tail to greet the shuttle buses. We should expect our first passengers into Whale Tail Carpark from 7:30 – 8:00am onwards.

Cruise Ship Visit “Pacific Eden” Friday, 7th April 2017

 

The Cruise Ship Passengers will be greeted at the Volunteer Meeting Point where the Tourism Esperance Marque will be setup on the foreshore lawn in front of the Scout Hall.

 

The first cruise ship passengers are expected to arrive into the Taylor Street Jetty from 8:00 – 8:30am onwards.

 

Volunteer Location Points include:

• Cnr Andrew Street & The Esplanade
• Post Office Square
• Whale Tail

 

Please remember the Cruise Ship Passenger 'Greeters' are all volunteers. If you can spare a couple of hours - anytime between 8am – 4pm, Tourism Esperance would really appreciate your help.

  • The Cruise Ship “Astor” will be in Esperance on Wednesday 8 February.  The Esperance Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECCI) has been advised that the “Astor” will berth at the Port at 9am.  Shuttle buses will transfer passengers out of the Port and through town to the Whale Tail car park.  The Tourism Esperance Marquee will be setup at the Whale Tail to greet the shuttle buses.  Please be aware that there is likely to be increased foot traffic in the CBD and let's all make an effort to welcome passenger visitors to our community so they enjoy their time here and might return again.

  • The upcoming 55th Flying Fifteen Australian National Championship will be held at the Esperance Bay Yacht Club from 30th December 2016 to 5th January 2017.  Here are some details about this event for you: There are 41 entries including sailors from the UK, Queensland, Victoria, Perth, Albany, Geraldton and of course Esperance; World Championship and National Championship winning sailors will be participating; The regatta will bring approximately 150 visitors to Esperance; Esperance businesses and activities have been promoted to regatta entrants via newsletter in the lead up to the event. The newsletter provided links to businesses Facebook pages or websites so that participants and non sailors accompanying them are aware of the diversity of small business and tourism offerings in town; Racing will take place on Esperance Bay with some great vantage points from the foreshore for locals and tourists to enjoy the spectacle. Saturday 31st December at 2pm is the Invitation Race and Championship racing will take place from 1pm on Monday 2nd, Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th January, morning racing from 10am on Thursday 5th January; EBYC have put together a great social program of functions but left some nights free for visitors to patronise local restaurants and pubs. A Sundowner at Stonehenge with Lucky Bay Brewing will be a highlight for regatta participants.

  • Saturday 26 November - the Esperance Volunteer Resource Centre welcomes everyone to attend the Nulsen in November Family Fun Day. There will be a growers market, food for sale, kids pony rides and much much more.   • Thursday 10 November - The Shire of Esperance will host the Freedom of Entry parade on the 10th November in the town centre. The parade will start at the Whale Tail, with the Farncomb crew marching through town, finishing in front of the RSL Memorial. The march takes an hour and will be a spectacle for all to see.
